Birthday cake donuts with buttercream glaze are amazing! It is like a birthday cake in a wonderful donut bite. This is the perfect donut to make for breakfast for someones birthday or just for fun. Everyday needs a little birthday level of celebrating in it and donuts. With these donuts you can cover them with buttercream glaze or drizzle a little layer over it. I have been on a huge donut kick lately mostly with cute donuts like these penguins: https://simplecraftyfun.com/2015/11/penguin-donuts/ . These birthday cake donuts are amazing for the donut lover.
for the donuts:
funfetti cake mix
1/4 cup of butter melted
1 egg
1 cup of water
glaze:
1 1/2 cups of confectioners sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl with a hand mixer on a medium speed for 2 minutes.
Spray a donut pan with cooking spray so the donuts don’t stick. To get the mix into the donut pan you can scoop it in with a small spoon and spread it around. You can also put the batter in a large plastic bag and cut off a corner. Then spread it around each donut section of the pan. Fill ithem up 2/3 of the way full.
Bake for about 8 minutes or until slightly brown. Let them cool before removing from the donut pan.
For the glaze:
Mix the confectioners sugar and butter with a hand mixer or standing mixer. Add the milk and vanilla in and mix. Then place it in a liquid measure or bowl and melt it in the microwave for 15 seconds slightly so it can be poured over the donuts.
Put the donuts on a cooling rack(so it will pour off the sides) or parchment paper. Pour the glaze over it in a drizzle or covering it, you can pour two layers. Add sprinkles in any colors you want.
These really have the fluffy light taste of a cake in donut form! Donuts and cake together are a match made in sweets heaven.
