Easy DIY Paper Palm Fronds

This is my end of summer blog celebration with some tropical fun! I made some easy diy paper palm fronds for my daughters party and I wanted to show just how easy they are to make. You can’t have a tropical party without some palm fronds. You could decorate a whole party with a bunch of these on banners, table decor, and with balloons. Add some pineapples too and you are good to go. They can be in any colors to matching party colors. I only made one size but make them in a variety of sizes to give it more dimension as well. I know fall is coming but who doesn’t want to stay warm and tropical with some tropical celebrations. They are probably needed more in winter. I live by the beach so tropical parties are always an option!

What you need to make them:

12″ by 12″ green card stock paper or any color you want.

scissors

if making banners a hole puncher and twine or ribbon

  1. Fold the paper in half.
  2. Cut along the fold.
  3. Fold it in half again. Cut off the ends to round out the end pieces. Cut from the bottom folded corner then move up towards the top middle rounding out the piece of paper. Do this on both ends.
  4. On the side that is not folded cut at a diagonal angle towards the folded side but leave a small piece about a half inch uncut at the top. Repeat cutting like this all the way down making small cut strips.
  5. Then every couple strips cut a half of the strip off in a triangle shape as shown above.
  6. When you are done cutting unfold the pieces and you are done.

These easy DIY paper palm fronds are so simple for anyone to make. If you want them thinner fold and cut the piece of paper into thirds. You can also make them smaller by then cutting that piece in half. A variety of colors and sizes makes them look even better! You can see how I used them in decorations for my daughters Moana party.
