Penguin Plate Craft

My daughter is obsessed with penguins. She has a bed full of penguin stuffed animals. We did a whole school unit study about penguins. I know everything there is to know about penguins! I get why she is obsessed with penguins because they are just the cutest animals ever. We also have made a bunch of penguin crafts and treats over the years. My all time favorite one I’ve made is walking penguin donuts. Check them out to make as well as these penguin plate crafts. The funny thing is we have only lived in warm weather. I get cold when there is a slight chill in the air and bundle up under blankets. My girl is part penguin but I am a wimp with the cold. I love visiting the snow but I don’t know if I’m cut out for visiting the penguins. I’m sure she will one day visit the penguins but I will just stick to penguin crafts and treats. 

This penguin plate craft is such an easy craft to make with kids of different ages. Probably more so for the little ones but my daughter liked it at 9. Winter is a fun time for crafting with some hot chocolate. I love Christmas crafts but penguin crafts you can make all winter long. 

What you need to make them:

Blue paper plate, you could also use blue paper

Penguin stickers or printables. I have some printables with my penguin games you can use for this craft! 

Popsicle sticks

White paper

Snowflake stickers, I got a pack of penguin and snowflake stickers from the dollar tree

Clear

Scissors

 

Let’s get this crafting started:

 

1. Cut the white paper to fit in the plate. I creased it in the plate and cut along the line. For the top of the paper cut a round hill pattern. I made the paper go about ⅓ of the way up the plate. You want to leave room for the snow and penguin.
2. Tape the white paper to the blue paper plate.
3. Cut the plate along the line of the white paper all the way up to the other end of the plate but don’t cut through the other end of the plate.
4. Tape the edge of the plate back together. This keeps the plate together but you have a slit for the penguin to go in the middle.
5. Put on snowflake stickers. You could also paint on snow with white paint or paint markers. 
6. Tape the penguin sticker or printable on a popsicle stick.
7. Put the popsicle stick in the plate and make the penguin slide!

This is such an easy craft to do with kids and they love it! I mean who doesn’t love sledding penguins? Ok they aren’t really sledding more like sliding on the snow. Fun fact penguins slide on their bellies in the snow and it is called tobogganing.
