Free Printable Sunflower Templates and Coloring Pages

 

If you are making sunflower crafts use these fun free printable sunflower templates for coloring and crafting. Sunflowers are one of the most cheerful flowers and one of my favorites. I remember being a kid and how tall the sunflowers seemed. They are a symbol of happiness, joy, and warmth. Kids also love running through fields of tall sunflowers. We go to pumpkin patch each year and they have fields of flowers it is amazing! Kids also love sunflower crafts. That’s why I have created free printable templates of sunflowers that young children will enjoy making.

8 Free Sunflower Printable Templates

 

There are different types of sunflowers for your different crafting needs. There is a simple large sunflower template, sunflower stencils, coloring pages, and different shapes of sunflowers. Also a large size sunflower for with separate petals to make sunflower craft projects.

 

Build a Sunflower

 

This is a fun and easy craft for kids to color, cut, and put together. They can also draw a background for the flower!

Large Sunflower

 

This large sunflower is great for making large paper sunflowers or party decorations.

Large Sunflower Printable

 

These large sunflowers come in two different styles. The first has larger petals that are pointed at the end. The second one has small petals that are rounded. These are great for party decor, crafts, or coloring pages. You can print them out on yellow cardstock paper in a 8.5 x 11″ size. Then color in the center or add black paper. If you curl black paper around a pencil it will give it dimension and pop out a bit.

A couple fun facts about sunflowers are they turn to face the sun and the tallest sunflower ever was over 30 feet tall!

Pick what style of sunflower you want to color in the white sunflower templates and get to coloring! You can use colored pencils, crayons, or markers. They can be colored a variety of different colors not just traditional sunflower colors.

Glue on tissue paper, glue the pieces together, or add paint to make this a fun project to make with younger and older kids.

Sun catchers:

 

Use contact paper to make a sun catcher. Just trace the sunflower template printable with a black marker on to the contact paper. Then add small pieces of tissue paper to make a sun catcher.

Process art:

 

This has been my favorite type of crafting lately! It is about the process not the end result so lay out the templates and a bunch of crafting materials. This can include paint, tissue paper, googly eyes, and pom poms. Let kids get creative with create art. You could even use real flowers as paint brushes! Kids love diy arts and crafts.

For a craft project with preschool or early elementary school. Add paints, glue on sunflower seeds, or tissue paper. You can make it a simple craft project with just a few materials.

Materials Needed:

 

• Free printable sunflower template. The file is pdf file so you need a pdf reader and it is for non-commercial use only personal use but you can print it out multiple times.
• White cardstock paper to print it on but regular printer paper will work too if you are using it for coloring.
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Yellow and brown construction paper if you are tracing the outline.
• Black marker or pen

Making a Sunflower Craft

 

Pick which template you want small sunflower printables, medium size, or sunflower outlines. Get the digital downloads and print the sunflower printable pdf templates.

If you are coloring it color it right on the sheet. Painting it is another option just use watercolor paints or acrylic paints. You can also cut it out once you color the template.

Using the blank free template you can add tissue paper. Just have kids put glue on the paper and add small cutout pieces of tissue paper. Yellow for the petals and brown for the center. I’ve even seen people use real sunflower seeds to glue in the center of a sunflower craft. This gives it a fun texture and you can snack on sunflower seeds while crafting!

For the cut out template, cut the sunflower template along the outline.

Optional: Trace the sunflower template onto yellow construction paper or yellow craft paper and cut it out. This will make bright yellow sunflowers.

If you are using construction paper cut a small circle out of the brown construction paper to create the center of the sunflower.

Glue the brown circle onto the center of the yellow sunflower.

This sunflower craft is perfect for kids of all ages and can be used in so many different ways. This craft can be used to decorate a bulletin board in a class, for a homemade card, learning about sunflowers, and even party decorations.
