The force is strong with these candy lightsabers! After Christmas my place is Star Wars everything. My daughter is the biggest Star Wars fan, Darth Vader in particular. All she wanted for Christmas was a Darth Vader costume and a red lightsaber. She is all about the dark side of the force. I should maybe be concerned that she already at 4 has a thing for the bad guys. If we are watching a movie she always wants the parts with the bad guys. My adorable little weirdo! That is why I needed to make some kind of Star Wars dessert and these candy lightsabers were really easy to make.
What you need to make them:
red and green Jolly Ranchers
parchment paper
baking sheet
black paper
tape
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Take strips of parchment paper about 2 inches thick and long enough to cover the length of a baking sheet. Fold the left side towards the right about a quarter inch from the edge of the right side. Then repeat with the right side over towards the left. This should create a half inch strip in the middle for the Jolly Ranchers to go in. Fold the left folded side in half and repeat with the right. This should keep the Jolly Ranchers in place as they melt. Line up the pieces of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Place three Jolly Ranchers in the middle of each piece of parchment paper.
Put the Jolly Ranchers in the oven for 5 minutes. Watch them to make sure they don’t spread too much. It also may take less or time depending on your oven. Leave them in long enough for them to spread out but not so long they get too bubbly. Let them cool off slightly then squeeze the sides together above the candy to make sure they are narrow enough.
Tape parchment paper to one side of a couple inch strip of black paper. Wrap the paper, parchment side towards the candy, around the base of the candy lightsaber. I used the parchment paper so the candy didn’t stick to the paper.
Keira had to add her figures to the picture, I have the best helper/picture stager! These candy lightsabers are really easy to make and the perfect candy for a Star Wars party!
