This year coming home for the holidays is extra special. It is the first year in a long time that I have lived away from family. Shortly after I had my daughter, I moved from San Diego back to Phoenix where I was born to be close to family. As a single mom I really relied on my family. They were an amazing support! Then I met the love of my life and this past June moved to Florida. My fiancé is in the military and now he is stationed in Florida. We both have large families in Phoenix with cousins, grandparents, parents, and siblings all living there. While we love Florida and are becoming more at home, we also really miss family. We have been counting down the days until our trip back to Phoenix to see our family.

For the holidays every year we have a lot of traditions. Something that I am missing this year is getting ready for the holidays with my family. My mom has always gone all out for the holidays. I bake with my Mom and Grandmother to get ready for the holidays. We also have a tree and hang ornaments every year. My parents still have ornaments from when I was a kid and it’s always fun to rediscover things from my childhood. We put up lights and decorate. My mom has a major snowy theme going on because being from Phoenix we never get actual snow so you have to make your own snow! We always wear holiday pajamas together and open up presents, my Mom usually gives some to me as a gift. My family also has a holiday party with lots of food, drinks including Coca-Cola®, a present game, and everyone together. It’s the one time of year where everyone finds the time to be together in the same place. That’s really what the holidays are about to me, spending time with the people I love.

Thanks to the Coca-Cola Publix Sweepstakes you could win 2 roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. to travel home for the holidays! I would use the tickets to go back to Phoenix. Then with the money saved I could make the holidays extra magical for my family. This holiday season, visit Publix for the text code to enter for a chance to win airfare for two to travel home for the holidays. The Grand Prize is (5) Round Trip airfare for two, anywhere in the continental United States. Sweepstakes ends 12/30. Since I am always stopping by Publix this time of year for holiday foods and baking supplies it is really convenient to get Coca-Cola while I am there. I’m lucky to have a Publix really close to my house because they always have all of the food and drinks my family loves! On my daughter’s karate night we often stop in to grab some food for dinner. This Mom loves convenient meals we will all actually eat.

To get myself into the holiday spirit before traveling home I decided to make a couple holiday traditions gift baskets for my family. They include a few simple items that remind me of our family’s holiday traditions. You can tailor this gift to your own family traditions. If you have a family recipe you could make it for family or include ingredients to make it together. When my family bakes we don’t use exact measurements. I have to watch my Mom and Grandma cook to learn their recipes and figure out how they make their magical tasty food. I think I’ve got a few of their recipes down. For my family I included an ornament, soft holiday pajama pants, a small string of lights, Coca-Cola, a stocking, and a few small baking items for when we cook together. I made them two ways, one in a galvanized bucket, and the other wrapped in the pajama pants. They were easy to make and I can’t wait to give them to family! I absolutely love these cute copper star lights and ornament. They contrast nicely with the red pajamas and Coca-Cola! You can also use more traditional holiday colors like red and green. Remember to get Coca-Cola from Publix for the text to win code! Grand Prize: (5) Round Trip airfare for two, anywhere in the continental United States. Sweepstakes ends 12/30

When making gifts I’m all about making what fits your personality and the person who is receiving it. These gifts are fun and fit my family. You can add whatever remind you of your family’s holiday traditions. I made these gifts two ways with the pajamas and lights wrapped around as a basket. Then just tuck in the other gifts. You can also use a bucket to put it all in. I really like it both ways. You can also add a cute little bow to the top of the Coca-Cola. Little touches are fun to add.

It is the perfect holiday spirit gift and making it made my heart happy! I’m so excited to spend the holidays with family. If you make this gift with pajamas you can also place it in a cute serving dish or wrap it all in cellophane! This gift captures my favorite holiday traditions. What does your family do to get into the holiday spirit?
