Craft Room Challenge Week 2

It is week 2 of the craft room challenge and I have been busy cleaning off the surfaces of my desk and my daughters desk. We share this room and both have messes to clean up. I had piles of paper to tackle as well as craft supplies. My Christmas stuff was just sitting on my desk in a box with no where to go. The funny thing is we were actually out of town for Christmas so I didn’t even go all out I just made smaller projects that added up to a large mess. My daughters school papers from the fall were out of control and I’m still trying to figure out a system for these. Then I had some bridal shower stuff adding to the mess. You can see the before of my surfaces from week 1. It wasn’t unbearable but if I kept adding to it things would have become a craftnado real fast.

There were little Christmas crafts on my daughters desk. For these I will hang on to one or two things for nostalgic purposes and get rid of the rest. I also found some wine party printables I had made for a party. Why they were on my daughters desk I have no clue. She may have been playing with the wine printables but hey at least it’s not real wine haha. We have Christmas cards and a few of them I will keep but you can’t keep all of them forever, right? I am slightly sentimental until I see piles of stuff and then I just want to get rid of all of it. For some of the Christmas stuff on my desk I am keeping it to see if I can reuse it for Valentine’s Day projects. My Christmas stuff was gold, pink, and red. These colors would look really cute for Valentine’s Day. Once that holiday has past I will get rid of everything. So for right now it is going in a smaller bag in the closet until I get some good storage units. At least it is off of my desk surface.

I had all kinds of paints and glues on my desk from Christmas projects. I cleared those off and put them in some drawers. I can’t wait to get the drawers organized because right now they are all crazy. I just want to know where my stuff is, that would be nice! I honestly did not remember having or getting some of the stuff I found. The good thing about going through it all is I find things that I can reuse for future projects! I made fairy garden ornaments for Christmas and with the extra stuff I have from that I can use for a spring fairy garden. I’m thinking a unicorn fairy garden for indoors and a really classic fairy garden for by my vegetable garden. I don’t have the vegetable garden yet but once we are settled inside I can start to tackle outside. Right now it is too cold for anything to look nice outside. Florida cold, not snowy blizzard cold. I can’t handle below 50 degrees, these 40s are killing me! Anyways the fairy garden stuff is going in my future projects box. I could use all of my stuff I have found/have tucked away for a month of blog projects and not buy anything new. I doubt I will do that because I have a craft shopping problem but it’s nice to know that I could haha.

My daughters pencils and things were all a mess. I see she has been hoarding things too. I found a little pumpkin, some little figurines, and some of my sharpies in there. Any hoarding or unorganized stuff she has/does is all me. She actually has some organized tendencies but she makes little projects with me and probably mimics how I throw things wherever. This will be good for both of us to get organized together. This room is a fun place for her to craft along side me or she can work on homework while I make projects. It’s our fun creative space in the house!

I have a weird amount of unicorn notebooks. Yup, all mine, not my daughters. Those I am not getting rid of they are where I write my weird unicorn thoughts and ideas down. I also have cards and gift cards from my bridal shower to go through. It’s probably about time I tackle the thank you notes for my bridal shower as well. Those are going in my wedding binder for now. I have to stay on top of the wedding details with 2 months until the big day!

So as I found out from this part of the challenge basically everything on my desk doesn’t need to be there. For now I literally have three things on my desk which gives me lots of room to craft and work on my computer. It is a nice feeling to have a clear space/clean slate! I cleared off that space real good and got rid of a lot of junk in the process! I will add a few things once I get some organization bins or cute desktop accessory holders. I sense some DIY projects in the future for those!

For next week we will be purging and sorting. This part I am nervous/excited about. Some of my stuff is so random that I don’t know where it should go. This will help me get a good system for my stuff and see what all I really have hiding in drawers and closets. I have a box in my daughters closet that I have been ignoring. It is time to take a look inside, purge, and sort through it all!
