Printing the Rainbow Templates
Printing out the free printable rainbow templates is easy peasy. Simply pick out the rainbow you want to use, click on the title of the rainbow or the image. This will take you to the free printable pdf file. You will need a pdf reader to open the files. Download the printable by pressing the download icon or button.
Rainbow Templates and Coloring Pages
First are a few simple rainbows. I made this rainbow shape in two different color options. Also, yes, there are only 5 colors in this rainbow and real rainbows have 6 but there will be an option for all 6 colors too. The ones with 5 lines are great for kids to paint on the lines and get 6 colors.
This rainbow is simple and perfect for simple crafts with young kids. There are two sizes, 2 color options, and another option with clouds. You can also add some clouds from the separate cloud templates. I want you to have lots of rainbow fun choices to fit your needs.

Rainbow Crafts
These rainbow crafts are just a few ideas for ways to use the rainbow templates. They can also be used for rainbow decorations.
Add small pieces of tissue paper or torn paper to make a rainbow craft with preschool or young kids. This is a great way for kids to work on hand eye coordination and fine motor skills. This is such a simple low mess craft.
Make a rainbow tissue paper craft by spraying the paper with water. Then add the tissue paper on top of the water. Remove the tissue paper after a few minutes to reveal the rainbow colors.
Make a rainbow paper plate craft. Trace the rainbow template on a paper plate to get the rainbow shape and paint the paper plate.
Rainbow wand. Print the template on a piece of cardstock paper. This thicker paper is great for crafts. Decorate the rainbow then turn it in to a wand by adding it to a paper straw or wooden dowel. Then add streamers or tissue paper to the bottom for a wand.
Qtip painting. Paint the rainbows with qtips by adding paint to qtips. Then dot the qtips on the rainbow.
Rainbow watercolor painting. Paint the rainbows with watercolor paint. Once again print the rainbow on cardstock paper.
Add cotton balls to the clouds on the rainbow after painting or coloring the rainbow.
Rainbow process art. Templates allow you to get a product but let kids just have fun in the process by laying out a variety of craft supplies. Then let kids decorate the rainbows any way that they want using their own creativity.
These are just a few craft ideas for rainbows. For science experiments skittles and warm water make rainbows. Another easy science experiment take a paper towel and color both edges with rainbow colors then dip the ends in water to watch the rainbow grow.
