Free Printable Penguin Template
Penguins are on of my favorite winter friends and activities! My daughter has always loved penguins, they have been her favorite animal since she was a little girl. In fact when I was homeschooling her we did an entire until on penguins and we learned so much about these awesome animals! At the end of the post I will add some penguin facts for your kids to learn about penguins. I can’t let all of that penguin knowledge go to waste!
These free printable penguin templates are perfect for winter crafts with kids. There are a few different options for different crafting needs and kids of all ages. Little kids especially love making animal crafts. Making a penguin is a fun activity for this winter season!

12 Penguin Free Printable Templates
The first template you will find is a simple cute penguin template for a color, cut, and paste penguin craft. This is perfect for young kids to make an easy craft.
Next up is a color in version of the last template. Just color it in, cut out the template, and glue the pieces together. This craft works on fine motor skills and is really fun for kids. Plus, it is a low mess craft and needs minimal preparation.

The next penguin is a very simple and cute penguin with a few options for coloring or cut and paste.
First is a coloring version of the simple penguin.
This template is a basic penguin coloring page for coloring with kids. Color it in with black, orange, and white. Kids can draw on a scarf or hat. It is large so even young kids can use this coloring page.
Next up is just a penguin outline. This free penguin template is very versatile for a variety of crafts. Below I will give you some ideas for how to use the templates for different crafts. This template allows kids to use their imagination and create a penguin in their own style.

Now is one with all of the details besides eyes. This one would be fun to add googley eyes on top!
The last one has all of the penguin features just blank for coloring in or decorating.
This ice skating penguin is probably my favorite! Dress the penguin up with a winter hat and scarf for extra fun! This is perfect for young kids to make an easy craft. You can use this for a paper plate ice skating craft or just a simple cut and paste craft.
If you want to use the penguin for decorations here is the full penguin already in color. You can also add it to a snowy painting. The small size is great to add to a paper plate winter craft!

Cute Penguin Craft
Here are some ideas for adorable penguin crafts! There are so many ways to use these penguins for crafts, activities, decorations, and winter fun.
Use the penguins to make easy penguin crafts. Use a glue stick to spread glue across the template, then add small pieces of black tissue paper. Top it off with a white piece of paper for the penguin belly and googly eyes on the face.
Another craft is to use the cut and paste penguin. Build the penguin then glue cotton balls on to the penguin’s belly. I would use white glue or glue sticks for the cotton balls.
Another fun penguin craft is to use the template on a paper bag to make a penguin puppet.
Use the small penguin templates on a toilet paper roll to make a standing up penguin. Color the penguins then glue them on to the toilet paper roll by putting glue on the back of the printable. You can also tape the penguins on the roll.
Make a paper plate penguin by painting the plate with black paint for the body of the penguin. Add white paper on top for the belly and the penguin head cut out from the templates.
Craft Supplies
Pdf file to download and print. You will need a pdf reader to open the printable pdf files.
Black and White card stock paper. For printing you can use just printer paper, but if you want a sturdier penguin use card stock paper.
Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
Optional: color construction paper or craft paper in black, white, and orange for orange beak
Optional embellishments: tissue paper, googly eyes, and toilet paper rolls.
Penguin Facts
1. Penguins are birds that cannot fly. They have flippers not wings.
2. They are however amazing swimmers! Swimming as fast as 22 mph.
3. Both the mom and dad penguin watch the eggs before they hatch.
4. Penguins have a large range of sizes depending on the species. The smallest are only a foot tall and the largest emperor penguins can be 4 feet tall!
5. Penguins black and white colors are for camoflauge with ice and in the water.
6. Penguins eat krill and squid.
7. They can find their partners by the sound of their call. Each penguin like person has a different call.
8. Some birds are beautiful singers but penguins are not known for their pretty sounding voice.
9. They huddle together to stay warm in biter cold weather.
10. Baby emperor penguins have grey feathers.
